The AMP-WHO joint LOGIVAC project has supported the development of a one-year training degree program in health logistics, which will be launched at the Institut Régional de Santé Publique (IRSP) in Ouidah, Benin in February 2013.

The French-language program is the first of its kind in Africa and includes both face-to-face learning, held at IRSP, and distance learning. LOGIVAC, a joint project of AMP and WHO, helped to organize a workshop in Cotonou, Benin to continue a vaccine supply chain optimization process initiated earlier in the year.

We are pleased to announce the 3rd edition of the Training Course in Surveillance and Field Epidemiology in Africa (SURVEA). The course is the adapted version of the International Course on Epidemiology and Applied Computer Science in Africa (IEIAA), organized since 1998 by AMP.

SURVEA is a blended (classroom / distance) learning program in applied epidemiology with a focus on epidemiological surveillance, and outbreak investigation and response in Africa.

As part of its commitment to health promotion in sub-Saharan Africa, AMP is organizing, in collaboration with the Regional Institute of Public Health (IRSP) in Ouidah, Benin, the 3rd edition of the International Training Course on Health Promotion in Africa (Formation internationale en promotion de la santé en Afrique, or FOPROSA).

This training program aims to strengthen the skills of African health professionals in health promotion.

AMP was in charge of the scientific secretariat at the conference on “Use of Multivalent Vaccines Containing Acellular Pertussis and IPV in North Africa” in Barcelona, Spain, on April 17, 2012.

The three conference sessions focused on topics including the Mexican experience with acellular pertussis and inactivated polio virus (Acp/IPV); immunization programs in Turkey, Algeria, Morocco, and Libya; polio and pertussis today; and pharmacoeconomic analysis of combination vaccine.

The EPIVAC International Network (EPINET) is organizing the 3rd EPIVAC Technical Conference in collaboration with the Agence de Medecine Preventive (AMP). AMP’s Advocacy for Immunization (ADVIM) project will hold the classroom learning phase of its training program in advocacy for immunization financing from December 12 to 16, 2011. This follows the distance learning phase, which enabled 39 participants from Benin, Burkina Faso, and Côte d’Ivoire to analyze the immunization system and its national and international financial context.

AMP will be promote its activities on a stand at this year’s African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) scientific conference in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, from December 11-16, 2011.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Field epidemiology and laboratory training programs as a platform for public health systems strengthening’.

The conference includes high-ranking ministerial delegates and public health experts from around the world and provides a platform for trainees and graduates of field epidemiology and laboratory training programs (FELTPs) in Africa
