Director of the SIVAC Initiative
Dr. Alex Adjagba is the Director of the SIVAC Initiative, which is run by AMP's Health Policy & Institutional Development Unit - designated a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre (WHO CC) for evidence-informed immunization policy-making in December 2012.
Dr. Adjagba leads SIVAC strategy development, coordinates activities, and has primary responsibility for program implementation in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and some countries in Asia. He works closely with ministries of health, international organizations, and technical partners, notably the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters and the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), which is responsible for SIVAC program implementation in Central Asia and Nepal.
Dr. Adjagba who is a physician and health economist joined AMP in October 2012. He previously worked at the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative in Geneva on health economics and policy decision-making issues. He also worked in consulting firms on economic evaluations of health services and at the Benin National Control Program against tuberculosis. Dr. Adjagba earned his MD from the University of Cotonou (Benin) and holds a master’s degree in health policy, planning, and financing from the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
