In 2008, AMP and the Organisation de Coordination pour la lutte contre les Endémies en Afrique Centrale (OCEAC) signed a partnership agreement to collaborate on institutional and human resources capacity development, epidemic control, public health research and interventions, and scientific and technical communication. As part of this cooperation, OCEAC asked AMP to provide support for the design and implementation of a field epidemiology short course (CEPIAC) at the Centre inter-Etats d’Enseignement Supérieur en Santé Publique d’Afrique Centrale (CIESPAC) in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo.
The objectives of the course were to:
- Strengthen the capacity of health professionals involved in epidemiological surveillance in OCEAC member countries
- Reinforce trainers' skills in teaching applied epidemiology in Central Africa
